About the Portal

Does submitting an Expression of Interest guarantee accreditation?

No. This is an Expression of Interest only. Submitting a request does not guarantee press accreditations for the LA28 Olympic Games.

Important: Accreditation decisions are made by the NOC in your territory, which receives a limited quota from the IOC. The IOC will neither respond to nor manage individual press accreditation requests.

What is the LA28 Press Accreditation Portal?

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has implemented this portal as the first step in the press accreditation process for the LA28 Olympic Games. Written press (print and digital), photographers, and non-media rights holders must submit their Expression of Interest to their respective National Olympic Committee (NOC) through this platform.

When is the portal open?

The portal is open from 31 August to 23 October 2026. Strict timelines apply — applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.

Eligibility

Which types of organizations can apply?

Daily or weekly newspapers
National news or sports magazines
Web-based organizations providing original content
Photographic organizations with an established clientele in magazines, newspapers, or on the web
Freelancers with confirmed assignments

Which NOC should I apply through?

Select the NOC of the territory where your organization is based. Your NOC will review your organization's eligibility — it is very important to choose the correct NOC.

Can multiple people from the same organization submit separate applications?

No. Only one application per organization will be accepted. Applications should be submitted by the sports editor, managing editor, or another authorized representative of the news organization.

How does the application process work?

Complete the form
Takes approximately 10 minutes. Progress is saved automatically — close the page and return later by visiting the sign-in page. On the same device and browser you will be taken straight back; on a new device, enter your email to receive a new sign-in link.

NOC review
The NOC in your country or territory reviews all applications. The decision rests with the NOC, not the IOC, and depends on the quota allocated to that NOC.

Notification of outcome
Your NOC will inform you whether your Expression of Interest has been accepted or declined. If accepted, the NOC will provide further information on next steps.

Can I save my progress and return to the form later?

Yes. Your progress is saved automatically. On the same device and browser, visit the sign-in page to be taken straight back to your application — no email needed. On a new device or browser, go to the sign-in page, enter the same email address you used to start your application, and a new sign-in link will be sent to you.

How do I find out the status of my application?

Contact your NOC directly. Do not contact the IOC or the Los Angeles 2028 Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games about accreditation status.

Please note that your application status will not be displayed in the Press Accreditation Registration Portal. Your NOC will inform you separately of the outcome of your application once it has completed its review and selection process.

Accreditation Categories

What accreditation categories can I apply for?

Code	Category & Description
`E`	Journalist — Reporter, editor, or photographic editor; employed or contracted by a news agency, newspaper, magazine, or website; or a freelance journalist under assignment.
`Es`	Sport Specific Journalist — Journalist specialising in one Olympic sport, meeting the same criteria as E. Includes access to all disciplines of that sport.
`EP`	Photographer — Photographer meeting the same criteria as E.
`EPs`	Sport Specific Photographer — Photographer specialising in one Olympic sport, meeting the same criteria as E.
`ET`	Technician — Technical support staff for major news or photo agencies renting equipment at the MPC or competition venues.
`Ec`	Support Staff — Office assistant, secretary, or interpreter for an accredited press organization. Access to the Main Press Centre (MPC) only.
`ENR`	Non-Media Rights-Holder (Non-MRH) — Radio or television organization without Olympic broadcast rights. See the ENR question below for details.

Your NOC may adjust the categories you applied for. Final allocation is at the NOC's discretion within the quota it receives from the IOC.

Can I apply for more than one accreditation category?

An individual press representative may hold only one accreditation category — either a journalist or a photographer accreditation. Your organization, however, may apply for multiple accreditation categories across its personnel in a single Expression of Interest. Your NOC will review and decide which categories to grant based on available quotas and your organization's profile.

What criteria do NOCs use when deciding who gets accreditation?

Each NOC uses its own criteria. Common factors include:

Demonstrated year-round coverage of Olympic sports
Previous Olympic Games coverage
Number of local or regional athletes
Circulation or other relevant audience metrics

Complete the form fully and accurately so that your Expression of Interest can be evaluated as efficiently and equitably as possible.

What is the ENR (Non-MRH) category and who is eligible?

ENR stands for Non-Media Rights-Holder and covers television and radio organizations that do not hold Olympic broadcast rights.

The following are not eligible for ENR: independent film and documentary makers, production companies, content creators, and YouTubers.

Accredited non-MRH organizations are not allowed to film in any Olympic venue. ENR accreditations are very limited.

Note that NOCs do not receive a direct quota from the IOC for ENR accreditations, but they remain responsible for accrediting non-MRH organizations in their territory.

What happens to my personal data?

Personal data submitted via this form will be processed by the Los Angeles 28 Organizing Committee, the International Olympic Committee, and your National Olympic Committee for the purpose of evaluating press accreditation applications for the LA28 Olympic Games. Data will be retained in accordance with applicable law and the IOC data-protection policy.
